The Medical University of Bialystok undertakes to ensure the accessibility of its website in accordance with the provisions of the Act of 4 April 2019 on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities. The accessibility statement applies to the Medical University of Bialystok website bimc.umb.edu.pl.

The website is partially compliant with the Digital Accessibility of Public Entity Websites and Mobile Applications Act due to the following inconsistencies or exclusions:

  • Certain elements of the website may have too little contrast.
  • No description of the link.
  • There might be a situation when alternate texts have not been added to photographs and graphic elements.
  • No mechanism for automatically stopping moving elements.
  • The website may have a disrupted headingsí hierarchy.
  • The downloadable documents made available on the website are not digitally available in most cases. Every effort is made to ensure that the files uploaded to the website are available digitally.
  • The videos made available do not have audio description and some of the videos made available do not have extended subtitles (for the deaf) either, as most of them were released before the Digital Accessibility Act came into force.
  • It is possible to use standard keyboard shortcuts on the website. There are no one-letter keyboard shortcuts available.

Anyone has the right to request digital accessibility of a website, mobile application or any element thereof. It is also possible to request access to information in alternative forms, for example, having a digitally inaccessible document read, having the content of a video without an audio description described, etc. The request should include the identity of the person making the request, an indication of the website or mobile application in question and contact details. If the requesting person indicates a need to receive the information in an alternative form, he or she should also specify the form of that information.

The public entity should comply with the request immediately and no later than within 7 days. If it is not possible to comply with this time limit, the public entity shall, without delay, inform them, when it will be possible to comply with the request, whereby the deadline shall not be longer than 2 months. If accessibility cannot be ensured, the public entity may propose an alternative means of accessing the information.

If an entity refuses to comply with a request to provide accessibility or alternative access to information, a complaint regarding that action may be filed.

After all options have been exhausted, the complaint may also be sent to the Commissioner for Human Rights.
